1. La Sagrada Familia Church

La Sagrada Familia Church is a Roman Catholic Church. In Spanish, "El Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia" which translates to "Expiatory Temple of the Sacred Family." The starting date of work on this church goes way back to March 19, 1882. It was designed by Antonio Gaudi. Work is still being done today in 2017! 135 years of work on one building! Visiting La Sagrada Familia has to be at the top of your list of architectural sightings during your stay in Barcelona!

















2. Park Guell

Park Guell is one of the most amazing public parks in the world! This was also designed by the famous architect, Antonio Gaudi. Park Guell is located in La Salut on a hill that overlooks the beautiful city of Barcelona. The park is always packed with people who come to admire the breathtaking view of the city from the park, and the phenomenal architectural pieces of artwork!













3. Magic Fountain of Montjuic

The Magic Fountain of Montjuic is located in Avenida Maria Cristina. It was designed by Carles Buigas. Over 3000 workers were commissioned to work on the project and less than a year later it was ready for its first performance on May 19, 1929. People from all over the world come to watch the breathtaking display of color, light, motion and water acrobatics. The Magic Fountain of Montjuic is definitely a "Must-See!"

The team that represents Barcelona is called FCB or FC Barcelona
On October 22, 1899 a man named Joan Gamper placed an advertisement in a local newspaper claiming his wish to form a futbol (soccer) team. Eleven players attended and FC Barcelona was born. The team has become a symbol for Catalan culture through the years with the motto "Mes que un club" which means "More than a club." Barcelona is the most successful club in Spain with five champions league wins and 3 years in a row. They won La Liga and also the World Cup. Their stadium is the third largest in the world.
